How to delete your account from WhatsApp
Before you proceed, ensure you have backed up any important data, as deleting your WhatsApp account will permanently erase your message history, remove you from all WhatsApp groups, and delete your Google Drive backup.
Steps to delete your account
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile device.
- Tap on the three vertical dots in the top-right corner to open the menu.
- Select "Settings" from the dropdown menu.
- In the Settings menu, tap on "Account."
- Tap on "Delete my account."
- You will be prompted to enter your phone number in the full international format (e.g., +1 123 456 7890).
- Tap "DELETE MY ACCOUNT."
- You will be asked to select a reason for deleting your account from a dropdown menu. Choose the appropriate reason.
- Tap "DELETE MY ACCOUNT" again to confirm.
Notes
- Deleting your account is a permanent action and cannot be undone.
- If you wish to use WhatsApp again in the future, you will need to create a new account.
- Your account information and settings will be deleted from WhatsApp's servers.
